Vantage Wa., is a tiny little town where we packed up the tents and prepared for our day. To start our cycling tour for this day, we headed uphill across the Colombia River via Interstate 90 with a three vehicle escort. We crossed the bridge safely as a group and then headed into an amazing and vast countryside where only sage shrub and weeds can survive. I saw two foxes that came and checked me out as I paused for a photo. The land is mostly barren except for the areas that can be irrigated with water pumped out of the Colombia River. The transformation between the irrigated land and the natural habitat was a sight to see.
There were vast wheat fields that were so alive with the irrigation. and yet, just down the road the land was dry with nothing bigger than a jagged shrub.
This is the campsite just before we took down our tents to start the day up and out of Vantage Wa.
Above, you can see we are wearing bright colors for High Visibility. Also, everyone has a front blinking white light and a very bright Red-blinking rear light. Below is the Big Ride Jersey – part of the High Visibility Cycling Apparel from Aero Tech Designs’ Custom Apparel.
